MIRABASILE - The Augmented Reality Museum on Giovan Battista Basile aims to create an interactive spacewithmixed reality. It will be accessible during the event Mirabasile at Giugliano Città Natale inside the amazing spaces of Palazzo Palumbo in Giugliano, an historical building from the XV century rich in frescoes and decorations.

Why Basile?

This event highlights the figure of Giovan Battista Basile, his bond with this city and its title of ‘Giugliano City of the Fable’. Giovan Battista Basile is the author of the famous “Lo Cunto de Li Cunti” (the Tale of the Tales). In the XVII century he was governor of Giugliano in Campania and lived in Palazzo Palumbo. Basile has a national and international reputation since he gave birth to some of the most renown fairy tales in the world, such as ‘Cinderella’, ‘Puss in boots’, ‘Hansel and Gretel’ and ‘Sleeping beauty’. These tales, taken from its masterpiece ‘The Tale of the Tales’ or ‘Pentamerone’, had a great success and were later adapted by Charles Perrault and by the Brothers Grimm.

The Museum Exhibition

During this event, the fantastic atmosphere of Basile’s fairy tales will be recreated in the halls of Palazzo Palumbo through sound and visual effects. Through the exhibition itinerary of MIRABASILE the visitors will follow the traces of the main researchers of this writing genius. As invisible guides, these scholars will lead the visitors in the discovery of the Pentamerone. The characters, the objects and the fabulous places of Basile’s fairy tales will come alive thanks to Augmented Reality in a play of lights and shadows re-enacting the metaphors of Day and Night.
